DWI Suspect Charged with Kicking Out Windshield, Head-Butting Officer

Police said the Mehlville man had five prior DWI arrests or convictions.

A DWI suspect kicked out a police car’s windshield and head-butted a police officer Thursday near the intersection of Laclede Station Road and Big Bend Boulevard.

Allen Castile, of the 300 block of Saddle Back Drive in Mehlville, was charged Friday with driving while intoxicated as a chronic offender, assault on a law enforcement officer and first-degree property damage.

St. Louis County Police said that they stopped Castile’s car in a parking lot. After doing poorly on a sobriety test, the 47-year-old registered a .248 blood alcohol content. According to the police report, Castile has had at least five prior DWI arrests or convictions.

After putting Castile in a patrol car, he kicked out the car’s windshield and then kicked and head-butted a police officer.
