The Lindbergh Flyers pulled out one of the most exciting wins of the 2011 season Friday night at Flyers Field when senior Jordan Goodman threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to teammate *Grant Krueger with just over a minute left in the game to lead the Flyers to a 20-15 victory over visiting Mehlville.

The Panthers had just taken the lead moments earlier when backup quarterback Brendan Moore scored on a 1-yard sneak and teammate Patrick Partee added a two-point conversion run to give Mehlville a 15-14 advantage.

But Lindbergh pulled off a near miracle with Goodman’s heave to Krueger that probably saved the Flyers' season, and gives them a shot at making the state playoffs if they can defeat SLUH next Friday night.

Mehlville was eliminated from playoff contention with the loss.

Check back late Saturday morning for the full story on the game and look at more photos on our Facebook page

*This story has been changed for accuraccy. Grant Krueger scored the winning touchdown for Lindbergh. The story previous reported it was his brother, Garrett Krueger.

I was at the game last night and I'm PRETTY SURE it was Grant Krueger, #20, who ran for the winning touch down....I'm his aunt so I KNOW!!! Please get your facts checked!!

by the way, Garrett is a sophomore #11 and he did score a touchdown earlier in the game as well!

My apologies Aunt Janet! You're right, it was Grant that scored the game-winning touchdown. I got the names mixed up. That's a terrible piece of reporting on my part. I saw the play and then there was all this commotion & excitement and I heard the PA guy say "Touchdown #$*#) Krueger!" I thought it was Garrett. I should've asked to be sure. Either way, great job by both those Krueger boys last night! And great win for Lindbergh!

I was on pins and needles waiting for this report to come out. What a heart breaking loss for Mehlville. I can see how easily it would be to mix up names considering the intensity of the game on and off the field. Very well written article for both teams.
Thanks- Shannon Moore
