I want to congratulate Katie, Fred and Mike for their campaign efforts. We need people like these and from all walks to volunteer for the betterment of Mehlville and Oakville. I also want to thank the roughly 5,900 folks who took the time to vote yesterday. Well done! the question is where are the other roughly 57,000 registered voters who sat it out? In any other endeavor in life would we allow 1 of 11 make all the key decisions? I am not sure what the answer is but what will it take to get people off the bench and into the game?

Yesterday was a great day in America. It was Election Day and each of us had the unique privilege of having our voices heard. I would like to echo remarks of Ron. It is a privilege to live in a country that you can have a voice but you don’t have a voice if you don’t show up. I congratulate Ron and Katy for their victory and applauded Mike and Fred for stepping up to serve. Having been at the polls with each of you yesterday I can tell you that it is a shame that any of you had to loose. For Ron and Katy we wish you the best and hope that wisdom will guide you to great decisions as our children are depending on you. Congratulations to each of you.

The school district didn't send home any notification to families that there was a school board election. My own husband didn't realize that Tuesday was an election day until I told him. People just don't notice the signs around before an election since there are so many and have been for months in this area. Couldn't the district send out an email to remind people that there is an election for school board? No need to even list the candidates- just to make sure people are aware? People have busy lives and with the increased use of DVRs, sometimes local news gets fast forwarded to the weather or sports.

Sarah, can you find out and report back who the write-in's were? I'm always curious about these when there ISN'T an organized write-in campaign.
