St. Louis County Police chased each other instead of suspects last Saturday, and raised thousands for the Special Olympics in the process.
Officer Dan Schroeder and Capt. Mike Dierkes of the South County and Affton precincts competed in a dirt track race at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia, MO.
The Battle of the Badges race featured police departments from all over the state and benefitted the Special Olympics.
Schroeder was in second place in the qualifying race before they stopped all races due to an accident.
The police collected donations and sponsorships from local businesses and turned old taxis and police cars into dirt stock cars.
The crew has several races over the summer, and will race locally at the I-55 Raceway in Pevely Sept. 8.
