Man Sexually Assaulted Woman After She Passed Out at His Home, Police Say

St. Louis County Police said the woman lost consciousness after drinking two drinks mixed by Rex Anderson, and awoke to find him having sex with her.

A Mehlville man is accused of a sexual assault after a social gathering in his home.

Rex Anderson, 44, of the 2700 block of Lemay Ferry Road in the Mehlville area, was charged Tuesday with sexual assault, a class C felony.

St. Louis County Police said during a social gathering at Anderson’s home March 31, a woman drank two drinks mixed by Anderson and passed out. She was helped to a bedroom in his home.

The woman told police that later that night she awoke to find the defendant having sex with her without her consent. Police said Anderson denied that sex occurred.

DNA from seminal fluid found on the woman’s clothing matched Anderson’s DNA, according to a court document.

Anderson had not been taken into custody Friday since charges were filed Tuesday. Bail was set at $20,000.

No where in the story does it use the term RAPE. When someone forces you to have sex without your consent or knowledge it is RAPE. Come on Patch don't sugar coat RAPE.

I used the term used by the prosecuting attorney's office. The charge they used was sexual assault. There is a rape charge in the state of Missouri, but they did not apply that specific charge in this case. Yes, I could have used the term "rape" when not referring specifically to the charge and that would have been accurate.

Mr Anderson was charged with the crime last Tuesday, which would have been the first time we could put a name and a face together with the crime. The news is that Anderson was charged with the crime, not that the crime took place more than a year ago. So I don't consider it old news although the actual crime took place March 31, 2012.

Sounds like a "Lewinsky" to me. DNA a year later? Too many things about this entire case sound hinky. Refer to Missouri Case Net for facts.

I can't get the question out of my mind why you refer to this as a "Lewinsky". If I recall in that case he wasn't a registered offender. Of course he did do it, and lied about it.

Perhaps the year is just criminal justice system efficiency.

I notice that the article doesn't mention exactly when the DNA became available. I also notice there isn't much detail on casenet yet either, perhaps more will be forthcoming. I did notice however that the picture in the article seems to match a listing on the Missouri Highway Dept's sexual offender registry.

It's not unusual for DNA and other evidence to take up to a year to process, according to police officers to whom I've talked. The labs are normally very backed up with work. Doesn't happen in 10 minutes like on TV.

Alex: Yes, there is a listing on Registry. If you go to the Wisconsin Court Record search, you will see that the original case was "a converted" one. It also lists a phone number to call for details on charges etc. and what it was actually converted to.

Dana:
From what I have been able to find online a converted case is one that was tracked in a previous case management system and was converted to the CCAP's Case Management System.
According to the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access,:
http://wcca.wicourts.gov/caseDetails.do;jsessionid=9DDFD4CD6E20CF128136FB0043F5B3E1.render6?caseNo=1996CF960422&countyNo=40&cacheId=5A4C0D56CCAC051B2C48E8F802A839CF&recordCount=4&offset=3
Milwaukee County Case Number 1996CF960422
The defendant Rex Warren Anderson was found guilty of the following charge(s) in this case. • a class B felony, Wisconsin Statutes 948.02(1).

Statute 948.02(1) reads:
from:http://legis.wisconsin.gov/lrb/pubs/ib/01ib1.pdf
First-degree Sexual Assault of a Child. Section 948.02 (1), Wisconsin Statutes, prohibits sexual contact or sexual intercourse with a child under 13 years of age (Class B felony).

The Mo Highway Dept web site:
http://www.mshp.dps.mo.gov/CJ38/Offense?page=0&column=name&id=23751763&lastName=Anderson&suffix=&firstName=Rex&middleName=Warren

Lists the actual age of the victim.

So a converted case does not seem to reference any actual "conversion" of charges, but rather conversion from being recorded in one system to another. From the Wisconsin web sites and the Missouri web site, it seems pretty clear that the previous conviction was.
