Mehlville Man Stabs Girlfriend in Face While Driving on I-44
The woman told Eureka police that Eldar Gyunashev told her he was going to kill her that night.
Eureka Police Department officers pulled a car over Friday after they received a 911 call about it being driven erratically on westbound Interstate 44. Police said the driver was swerving from shoulder to shoulder. But when the car was stopped, a woman, who was covered in blood, jumped from it.
Police said the woman’s boyfriend, Eldar Gyunashev, 33, of Mehlville, stabbed her in the face Friday, and threatened to kill her. The stab wound caused trauma that will require oral surgery, according to a court document.
Police said Gyunashev also was covered in blood. Officers recovered two knives from the vehicle, including one drenched with blood.
Gyunashev, of the 1200 block of Victory Drive in Mehlville, was charged Saturday with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action.
The officer said the woman told him that Gyunashev told her, “I am going to kill you tonight.”
Gyunashev is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $150,000, cash only.
