The Mehlville School District met every standard in the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) tests. The 14 state standards indicate student performance in math, communication arts, science and social studies. 

“We are extremely proud of the results we get considering the money we spend and the socio-economic diversity represented within our district,” said Superintendent Dr. Eric Knost in a district release. “We have some of the best educators in the business and we approach student achievement individually with each child.”

Students grades 3-12 take the MAP tests each spring, and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education released the 2011-12 results on Tuesday. 

Schools no longer have to worry about making "adequate yearly progress" levels that were set in President George W. Bush's No Child Left Behind law. The levels had specific targets every year that ended with all students scoring proficient in reading and math by 2014. 

Missouri—along with 33 other states—received a waiver releasing it from the goal. 

This year, to make adequate yearly progress, Missouri schools had to have 72.5 percent of students test at grade level in math and 75.5 percent test at grade level in reading.

Statewide, 55 percent of students scored proficient or advanced in communications arts, up from 54.6 percent in 2009-2010. The passing rate in math increased from 54.3 percent to 55 percent, the Post-Dispatch reported.
