This winter dumped another surprise Friday as the area received 3 to 5 inches overnight. Only flurries were predicted, with no accumulation.
With no rush-hour traffic or school to call off, the area can focus on sledding fun or shoveling snow.
One snow-related accident was reported last night on Interstate 55 and Meramec Bottom Road, but has since been cleared. Currently, no major problems are affecting the area, according to police.
Here's a look at what the National Weather Service predicts for this week. The rest of Saturday will see scattered flurries with a high around 33 degrees. A 50 percent chance of snow is possible for Sunday with a 30 percent chance of snow Monday and temperatures in the 20s and 30s.
Temperatures are expected to drop to the teens and 20s on Tuesday and Wednesday with a chance of snow on Wednesday. Thursday is supposed to get extremely cold with a high of 15 degrees and temperatures dropping to minus 4 Thursday night. Friday will 'warm' back up to 23 degrees.
