Oakville High School Receives National Journalism Award
Oakville High School was one of just two schools in the nation to earn a Pacemaker Award in the monthly broadcast category. Only five schools in the country received Pacemakers in the various broadcast categories.

The 2012 Channel 97 News broadcast at Oakville High School received the highest honor in scholastic publications at the National High School Journalism Convention in San Antonio, Texas.
Oakville High School was one of just two schools in the nation to earn a Pacemaker Award in the monthly broadcast category. Only five schools in the country received Pacemakers in the various broadcast categories.
The 2012 Tiger Paw yearbook received 10th place in Best of Show for yearbooks pages 275 to 325 pages.
This year's Channel 97 News placed 8th in Best of Show for school broadcasts. In individual write-off contests, Tori Hotz earned an honorable mention in Yearbook Copy/Captions: Student Life. Randi Barron also received an honorable mention in Yearbook Copy/Captions: Sports at the national convention.

“Oakville High School is very proud of our broadcast staff and teacher. The program continuously strives for excellence and is very deserving of this award,” said Oakville High School Principal Jan Kellerman. “Our students and journalism teacher Jeff Kuchno work very hard to assemble the best broadcasts possible and seek new goals every year to make the future of our program even stronger. Oakville High School congratulates our broadcast staff on a job well done. You have brought great honor to Our House, and we thank you.”
