Aaron Hurst lost control of his ATV Monday.

Aaron C. Hurst, a senior at Oakville High School, was pronounced dead Monday at 12:20 p.m. after an ATV accident at St. Joe State Park in St. Francis County.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Hurst and his two friends were riding through the park on their school day off when he hydroplaned and lost control of the ATV.

The St. Francis County Coroner Jim Coplin said Hurst died on the scene. He was riding a 2003 Honda Rancher and was wearing a helmet.

At Oakville, the 17-year-old tutored in the A+ program and planned to attend St. Louis Community College at Meramec.

He is survived by his parents and sisters, Emily, 14, and Jillian, 11, the Post said.
