Police to Serve Dinner in Special Olympics Fundraiser

Join St. Louis County Police at Texas Roadhouse in Kirkwood Wednesday to help raise awareness for Special Olympics.

Diners at Texas Roadhouse in Kirkwood Wednesday might be served by a St. Louis County Police Officer, rather than the average waiter.

County Police and the Kirkwood Police Department are teaming up to host a Cops and Cowboys fundraiser for the Special Olympics. T-shirt sales, donations and 10 percent of all sales will go to the program, which organizes athletic competitions for people with mental disabilities.

Last year, officers raised between $2,000 and $3,000. McGruff the Crime Dog and Texas Roadhouse mascot Andy the Armadillo will also make an appearance.

“It’s going to be a really family-oriented event,” said Detective Aaron Schafer with county police.

Cops and Cowboys will run from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
