Rizzo's Restaurant, Papa John's Need Follow-up Inspections

See how your favorite restaurants fared on St. Louis County Department of Health inspections.

 

Patch examined inspection reports in Mehlville, Oakville and Affton in July and August. Information has been compiled using publicly available data published to the website of the St. Louis County Health Department

Restaurants are rated on a scale of A to C, with A being the best. Inspectors also give a score indicating the percentage of compliance with inspection standards. 

The health department inspects restaurants on a routine basis unless otherwise noted.

Oberweis Dairy, 4570 Telegraph Road
Inspection date: July 30
Grade: A (96)
Comments: The dish machine was not sanitizing. During a follow-up on Aug. 9, the item was corrected.

Rizzo’s Restaurant, 4460 Lemay Ferry Road
Inspection date: July 30
Grade: A (93)
Comments: The line drawers were not maintaining food product at 41 degrees or below. There was a missing thermometer and a missing light shield in the storeroom. The drawers were still not maintaining the proper temperature during a follow-up Aug. 9, but were on Aug. 16

Oakville Elks Lodge, 2726 Oakville Elks
Inspection date: July 31
Grade: A (92)
Comments: No one on duty had food protection certification. The dish machine was not sanitizing and there was debris in the machine. A follow up report on Aug. 9 said all items still needed to be corrected. On Aug. 20, they were corrected.

Tucker’s Place, 3939 Union Road
Inspection date: Aug. 8
Grade: A (99)
Comments: The kitchen needs resealing and the product is bought.

Pizza Hut, 2536 Lemay Ferry Road
Inspection date: Aug. 8
Grade: A (95)
Comments: Hepatitis A documentation was missing for some employees. The item was corrected on a follow-up visit Aug. 20.

Walgreens, 5414 Telegraph Road
Inspection date: Aug. 9
Grade: A (98)
Comments: There was debris in the dumpster that needs to be cleaned and the walk-in freezer floor needs to be cleaned.

Papa John’s Pizza, 2230 Union Road
Inspection date: Aug. 9
Grade: A (95)
Comments: The facility could not provide Hepatitis A vaccination documents for all employees. Records were still incomplete on a follow-up Aug. 15, but corrected on Aug. 23.

Petro Mart, 4205 Butler Hill Road
Inspection date: Aug. 16
Grade: A (95)
Comments: The manager is missing food protection certification, but the class is scheduled. There were hot dogs being held at 112-122 degrees instead of 135 degrees. There was debris on the ice machine and a missing cover on the waste can in the women’s bathroom. The walk-in refrigerator doors were also dirty.

White House Retreat, 7400 Christopher Drive
Inspection date: Aug. 17
Grade: A (100)
