Schools, Police to Meet About Safety; Share Your Suggestions
This police-only, internal meeting is being called to discuss what changes in security that school districts leaders would suggest, as everyone processes and works through the tragedy that occurred Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Due to the recent event in Connecticut, St. Louis County Police Department officers and members of the Safe Schools Partnership just announced Tuesday morning they will be meeting this Thursday at 9 a.m.
Safe Schools Partnership of St. Louis County, launched during the 1998-1999 school year, is a collaborative agreement between the county police department, area police departments, school districts, and other concerned agencies, with the sole goal of assuring safety for children.
The meeting—which is for officers only—will be held at the Parkway School District Instructional Services Center.
Editor's Note: Leave your own recommendations right here in the comments' section of this article, and Patch will ensure those suggestions are shared with county police.
St. Louis County Police Department media officer Randy Vaughn said the meeting will consist of an open discussion of what changes, if any, respective school districts would like to see regarding security protocols.
Vaughn said an invitation also was extended to bordering municipal police departments' personnel.
Note: The meeting itself will not be an open meeting.

Lindbergh schools costs $10,000 per child. $7,000 of that is for Teachers.
Need I say more? Wake up! You already pay enough to get Security. You do not need more Taxes. Why don't we just Close all our public schools ---Save $billions---And keep our children safely at home and all hire individual public House call "TEACHER-TUTORS" and the state can fully reimburse every Parent.
Or Maybe we all can simply Home school our own childen.
Why not build a fortlike entry to Public school grounds.
Yes, that way we can put the National Guard in there to make sure some possible deranged individual is deterred.
C'mon people, this is getting to be almost an 8 hour daily security cost , just because YOU choose to send your child to Public schools.
It is your choice to use Public schools, it is not a mandatory requirement.
Our Schools already collect enough taxes to pay for more "school" costs.
It's the Teacher's pay & enormous pensions that all of you should be screaming about. (e.g. Lindbergh collects over $60 million --and spends about $40 million just for Teachers&Pensions) just a 2% pay decrease would give the District $1mil to spend on Security. I say Fight for Pay decreases to pay for more security , if that is what you want. Many residents already pay enough for the "Education" component of Free Schooling.
Just seeing many of you write "We can Pay more for security of our children" suggests You all now know that our Public schools ARE NOT FREE.
