Patch Editors Run a St. Louis Cardinals Food Concession for Charity Fundraising
We've got the evidence of a sweaty outing at Thursday's Cardinals-Dodgers game—all to raise money for HavenHouse.
We wanted to share a few pictures of your Friendly Neighborhood Patchers at concession stand No. 150 —behind home plate!— at Thursday's St. Louis Cardinals game against the Dodgers (Cards won 7-4).
Patch editors from around the St. Louis area were slinging hotdogs, beer and nachos supremes during Thursday's day game.
The volunteer effort was the culmination of our Give 5 Day Fundraiser. Regular Patch users may remember the details: We agreed to work a concession stand and donate the charity proceeds to a local nonprofit.
We invited users to enter a contest: Sign up for a Patch email newsletter and be entered into a drawing to win proceeds for the non-profit of your choice.
Elissa Plastino of Creve Coeur won and directed our donation to HavenHouse in Creve Coeur. HavenHouse provides a place to stay, support and community for families traveling to the St. Louis area for medical treatment.
However, the ongoing heat wave during the day game may have impacted game attendance, food sales, and the amount of money Patch could raise.
We were hoping for about $1,500; we won't know the final tally for a few days, but Busch Stadium experts tell us it won't be quite that much.
Plastino was quick to let us know in an email today: Every little bit helps!
