For me, Christmas starts on Christmas Eve Eve. That was the day my mother gave us our first present of the season: holiday pajamas.

This Toler family tradition has very utilitarian roots. (My mother knew if the pj's didn't fit, she'd have time on Christmas Eve to take them back.) But over time, it became one of my favorite Christmas traditions.
