The Paige Foundation: A Cut Above the Rest
Glow Salon and Spa welcomes you to their first Cut-A-Thon and vendor fair, benefiting the Paige Foundation.
Paige Suter left such a huge mark on the world in such a small amount of time. When the 10 year old came home from her first night of speed skating for the season, she had a very sudden and unexpected brain aneurysm. She died the next day, Sept. 21, 2006.
After Paige's death, her parents started hearing stories about the things that she had done and how she had affected other people's lives.
"We thought it was unusual for a child that age to act like that," said Nora Suter, Paige's mom and manager of Glow Salon and Spa. "We wanted to carry on her legacy and help children in our area in some way."
In doing so, their help evolved into the Paige Foundation, in which each year they choose one charity, hospital or research organization that helps children in need in the St. Louis area. They then conduct fundraising events to financially help the organization of choice continue its work. Past organizations include Camp Rainbow, Annie's Hope and most recently St. Louis Children's Hospital.
"What's interesting is that as we began researching what we wanted to do this year, one of the board members found this perpetual endowment program (at Children's)," Nora said. "We found this was an interesting prospect and it just so happened to be headed up by the doctor that treated Paige. The program had just begun when she had her aneurysm."
So, to support the Paige Sandra Murie Suter endowment for the Pediatric Neurocritical Care Program at Children's, Glow Salon and Spa is hosting a Cut-A-Thon and vendor fair from noon-5 p.m. Sunday, April 17. Hair cuts are $20, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the foundation. At least 10 vendors will be on hand, with 20 percent of those profits going to the foundation. Participants will be entered to win a 60 minute massage, and there will be raffle items. Bring in a cell phone to recycle and get a free raffle ticket.
Bring your hair and your hearts and support the Paige Foundation. For more information, contact Nora Suter at 314-486-2016.
