There’s still no resolution for Jim Walters, the former Point Elementary School principal who was issued a lewd and indecent conduct citation in March.
Walters was due in court Thursday, but because of a scheduling conflict with the courts, the trial was moved to Aug. 14.
On March 16, Walters was issued a lewd and indecent conduct citation from a park ranger at Forest Park in St. Louis.
The ranger "observed subject Walters grab his genitals while talking to a man in a vehicle who later confessed to what was happening," he stated in the ticket.
Walters denies all wrongdoing, Bruntrager said. He wouldn't comment beyond that.
"I firmly believe that he'll be completely vindicated in this matter," he said in April.
The Mehlville school board still voted to fire Walters.
In a closed meeting June 21, the board unanimously voted to terminate his contract and hire Dr. Dan Gieseler as the principal of Point Elementary School for the 2012-2013 school year.
Superintendent Eric Knost placed the principal on paid administrative leave in March, pending a district investigation. He issued a letter to parents two months later saying Walters would not return to Point.
Walters had been the principal since 2007.
Retired Beasley Principal Jim Schibig took over for the remainder of the 2011-2012 school year.
Schibig spent 15 years as the principal of Beasley Elementary School after working as a teacher and assistant principal in the district.
Knost credits Schibig, along with Point staff, with the lack of disruption for students in the progression of the school year.
"I think we handled things right and I think the communication with the community was good; the icing on the cake was the decision to have Jim Schibig fill in because we needed a sense of calm in this situation," Knost said in June.
The city prosecutor's office did not comment on the case.

He's no longer a public employee. I don't understand why this is still news.

Maybe because Mr Walters has made a connection to our community during his time here at Point. I for one and many others I believe continue to care about him and his family and want to believe in his innocence unless and until he is PROVEN guilty of anything inappropriate. I dont wish any sensational built up news reports just the facts as they occur in court. Praying for Jim and his family that truth prevails and God's grace bring them thru this, especially his kids.
