Scouts from Bierbaum Elementary and Mehlville High School are just two of the local troops bringing neighbors their annual stock of cookies.
The Scouts from Brownie Troop 223 at Bierbaum Elementary plan on using their proceeds for community service projects, camping gear for the entire troop, thier first camping trip as well as for the uniform, insignia, The Junior's Girl Guide, and Journey Books for their next year as Juniors, said troop co-leader Jane Williams-Matoushek.

"I just want to say how proud I am of each and every girl in the troop," said Williams-Matoushek, who has two daughters in the Girl Scouts. "The Brownies are very excited about this being their very first business that they own and can make decisions on. We have heard many great ideals from them, and we will be encourage them to continue on!"
Both troops are also working to donate more than 2,000 boxes of cookies to the USO by asking customers to purchase an extra box to be shipped overseas.
"Both Troops have goals this year which are very high, and we need every bit of help we can get to meet it," said Williams-Matoushek. So far, the troops have only found three customers willing to donate a box of the cookies to their chosen charity, the USO.
This year, the scouts are offering a new cookie - the Mango Creme. The tropical treats are vanilla and coconut sandwich cookies with a mango-flavored crème filling. In addition to Mango Crèmes and the other familiar favorites, the scouts are offering Lemonade and Thanks-A-Lot varieties.
Girls Scouts typically sell the annual treats door-to-door taking initial orders and sales have already begun. But there are many other opportunities to purchase a box of Girl Scout favorites. Cookie will be delivered beginning Feb. 27. However, for those who didn't order cookies, or who didn't order enough, local cookie booths will be set up in a variety of locations, so there will be many opportunities for you to buy cookies this year.
