Adult Learners Degree Option at Jefferson College is Flexible, Convenient

For those who want a college education, but can't find the time necessary to juggle work, family and school, Jefferson College has created a new Adult Learners option that allows busy, dedicated students to earn an Associate of Arts degree in two years by attending class one night a week and working online.

The innovative program will begin this fall. It features small classes (16 students maximum) that meet at Jefferson College Arnold on Tuesday evenings from 6-10 p.m. During the rest of the week, students work online and study on their own flexible schedule.

Enrollment is under way for five Adult Learners classes this fall including

COL 101 Freshman Seminar: Adult Learner

CIS 125 Introduction to Information Systems

ENG 101 English Composition I

MTH 128 Intermediate Algebra

PSC 102 U.S. and Missouri Governments and Constitutions.

The new Adult Learners option creates a supportive, participative, and innovative learning environment designed to maximize student achievement and success. It was specifically designed to be flexible, while providing participants with excellent instruction and outstanding value.  

A typical college student (earning six credits every eight weeks) spends 30-40 hours per week in class and reading, studying and completing homework. In traditional programs, 12 or more of those hours are rigidly scheduled and require on-campus attendance. The new Adult Learners option requires only four hours of on-site attendance (one night each week) in addition to eight hours of weekly online instruction.
