PRIDE Honors St. Louis Construction Leadership

ST. LOUIS – The St Louis area’s venerable construction labor-management organization, PRIDE Labor-Management, has honored leadership in the local construction industry.  At its sixth annual awards luncheon July 25, 2013, PRIDE saluted The Boeing Company; Hugh McVey, president, Missouri AFL-CIOSteve Sobo, director of design and construction, Washington University School of Medicine; ­­­­and Butch Welsch, president, Welsch Heating and Cooling CoAbout 200 construction industry leaders attended the event held at the Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 36 Training Center and Union Hall at 2319 Chouteau Ave. in St. Louis.

The Boeing Company received the PRIDE Industry Impact Award.  Other awards were the:

·       Dick Mantia Labor Award, given to McVey;

·       Joe Rinke Owner Award, given to Sobo.

PRIDE, founded in 1972, is an acronym for Productivity and Responsibility Increase Development & Employment. For more than 40 years, PRIDE has worked to maintain harmony and build cooperation among St. Louis area AFL-CIO construction craft workers, contractors, construction buyers, architects, engineers and suppliers.
