Dog Dies in South County At-Home Pet Boarder

Graeme Purviance said his dog Lexi suffocated and died of heat stroke while in the care of am at-home boarder.

Graeme Purviance is telling anyone who will listen about a Craigslist ad for an at-home dog boarder he believes was negligent with his beloved dog, Lexi.

Purviance told KSDK his 3-year-old dog Lexi suffocated and died of heat stroke while in the care of a boarder.

He boarded the dog in a South County home after responding to an ad on Craigslist while in the middle of a house move and some family issues.

Purviance said he got a call from the boarder that Lexi had died, and said the boarder told him she didn't know why she passed.

After seeing Lexi's condition when he went to go pickup her body, he decided to have Tesson Ferry Veterinary Hospital autopsy.

Check out the KSDK video above to hear about the abuse Lexi endured which includes rope burns, torn skin, heat stroke and choking, according to the veterinarians.

The boarder did not answer KSDK's call, and hung up once on the news outlet. Purviance said he want something done about the woman he said is still posting ads to board animals.

How would you handle the situation if your pet died while being boarded?
