Get Out: Crafts, Music and Mardi Gras
From an arts and crafts fair, to an album release party, to a Mardi Gras parade, there's no excuse to stay in and be bored this weekend
This weekend, we've got trivia night for a great cause, a chili dinner for another, a craft fair, album release party and of course the Mardi Gras parade in Soulard. Take your pick, and let us know how it was. Have something better to do? Tell us about it in the comments.
When/Where: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday, March 5, or 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday at Oakville High School, 5557 Milburn Road, Oakville
Why Go: There will be all sorts of local artisans and craftspeople selling their most unique creations. Handmade trinkets make great gifts, conversation piece and home decor.
Pricing: Free to get in, bring cash for the crafts.- in Fenton
When/Where: 6:30 pm Friday, March 4 at Andre's West, 211 S Old Highway 141, Fenton
Why Go: This trivia night include dinner, an open bar, silent auction and plenty of prizes. Proceeds got to Equine Assisted Therapy, a nonprofit that provides therapeutic horseback rides for people with disabilities.
Pricing: $25 per person
When/Where: 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5 at Busch Stadium, 700 Clark St., Soulard
Why Go: This parade is the main Mardi Gras attraction in St. Louis (and, you could argue, the Midwest), and you live too close to pass it up. After the parade, stick around to enjoy all the food, drink, music and culture that Soulard has to offer.
Pricing: Free- at Lindbergh High School
When/Where: 4 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at Lindbergh High School, 5000 S Lindbergh Blvd, Sappington
Why Go: You get all the chili, hot dogs, nachos and dessert that you can eat, and you'll be helping the school's Interact club raise money for a service trip to Guatemala.
Pricing: $5 in advance, $6 at the door
When/Where: 3 p.m. Sunday, March 6 at Concord Trinity United Methodist Church, 5275 S Lindbergh Blvd
Why Go: Jei Mitchell is a local musician, and this is her first CD release. Support her by coming out to watch her perform excerpts from the album, then stick around for some food and conversation.
