Get Out: Theatre, Shopping and a Parade

From newshounds to a puppy parade, from the theatre to the bazaar, take your pick of fun outings this weekend.

Still working on your weekend plans? Whether you prefer intelligent conversation and a night at the theatre, or dressing up your dog in silly costumes, we've got you covered.

  • at Cliff Cave Library
    When/Where: 12:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25 at Cliff Cave Library, 5430 Telegraph Road.
    Why Go: If you're a Patch reader, you must be somewhat interested in what's going on in your community. Meet other locals and discuss current events and issues, both in Mehlville and beyond. We'd love to hear what you talked about too, so tell us in the comments afterward.
    Pricing: Free

  • When/Where: 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25 at Royale Orleans, 2801 Telegraph Road.
    Why Go: Your weekend wouldn't be complete without a trivia night, and with this one, you will be supporting Beasley Elementary. Grab some friends and brush up on your useless knowledge, and you may walk away with a cash prize.
    Pricing: $20
  • at Jefferson Barracks Park
    When/Where: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 at Jefferson Barracks Park, 345 North Road.
    Why Go: There will be lots of interesting knickknacks for sale, by local vendors spanning generations. Proceeds go to Friends of Jefferson Barracks.
    Pricing: $3 for ages 12 and up, $2 for 11 and under.
  • by Webster University Conservatory of Theatre Arts
    When/Where: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24 - Saturday, Feb. 26 with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Feb. 27. Presented at Loretto-Hilton Center, 130 Edgar Rd, Webster Groves.
    Why Go: It is a story of eight unlikely romances in a remote (imaginary) town in Maine. Webster University describes the play as, "By turns touching, comic, warm, gentle and altogether surprising."
    Pricing: $12 for general public, $6 for senior and students
  • in Soulard
    When/Where: 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27 at the corner of Allen and Menard in Soulard.
    Why Go: You get to dress up your favorite pup in Mardi Gras costumes and parade her or him around Soulard with other devoted pet owners. Proceeds benefit the Open Door Animal Sanctuary.
