From war and hockey to pink parades and Valentines, take your pick of fun family activities for this week.

With plenty of free family activities, from war and hockey to pink parades and Valentines, this week is the perfect time to grab those kids and go out for some fun.

    When: Open Wednesday - Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m.
    Why Go:
    The exhibit is a great opportunity to learn about Missouri history in a way that your kids can relate to. Civil War battles become much more interesting when you find out they were fought in your neighborhood.

  • at FSI Shark Tank
    Where: FSI Shark Tank, 6297 Lemay Ferry Road.
    When: 6 - 7 p.m. on Thursay, Feb. 10.
    Why Go: David Backes and Barret Jackman of the St. Louis Blues will be at the rink to sign autographs and take photos with your little hockey star.

    When:
    2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12.
    Why Go:
    If your little one is a fan of the Pinkalicious series, this will be a great chance to go pick up the new book, while also getting to participate in some games, crafts and the pomp and circumstance of a Pinkalicious parade. Costumes are not required, but who's going to stop you?

  • Valentine's Activities at
    When:
    Storytime for ages 2 - 3 at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10. Party for ages 4 - 10 at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12.
    Why: No Valentine's Day weekend is complete without paper hearts and candy exchanges. Bring the youngsters in for stories on Thursday, and come back for the party on Saturday with plenty of games, stories and crafts.

  • Valentine's Free Family Day at Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis
    Where:
    Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, 3750 Washington Boulevard.
    When:
    1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12
    Why Go: If there is ever a day when packing the kids up to drive into the city is worth it, today is it. The art museum will have plenty of hands-on activities, projects and performances to offer, and will be showing off the programs offered at its new arts school. Plus, anyone wearing red will be entered to win a special prize.
