Grab & Go: Stories, Socialites and Babies

Reading is a strong theme amongst this weekend's activities.

There are plenty of things to do with the kids in South County this weekend.

  • at Borders
    When/Where:
    2 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at Borders in South County Center
    Why Go: Read Across America is all about teaching kids to love reading at a young age, and continue for the rest of their lives. Lots of stories, games and activities, plus a celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday.
    Pricing: Free
  • Saturday Club at Reading Habitat
    When/Where: 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5 at Reading Habitat, 6035 Telegraph Road
    Why Go: This isn't any old storytime. Reading Habitat's Saturday Club features a different book or theme every week, with songs, stories and crafts to fit. Sometimes, the kids even get to act out the story like a play. Recommended for infants to 7 years old.
    Pricing: $5, or a 6-class card for $25. RSVP appreciated.
  • Tiny Socialites Gathering at
    When/Where:
    10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 3 at South County Cotton Babies, 9916 Kennerly Road
    Why Go: Network with other moms and dads of young children, while the kids play together in a safe and fun environment. Recommended for parents of kids birth to three years old.
    Pricing: Free
  • Mix and Mash Playlists at Weber Road Library
    When/Where:
    4 p.m. Tuesday, March 8 at Weber Road branch of St. Louis County Library, 4444 Weber Road, Affton
    Why Go: Teens get to create a soundtrack for their favorite book. You get to ditch them for a little while to relax in the peace and quiet of the library. Recommended for ages 12 to 18.

  • Animal Babies at Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center
    When/Where:
    9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 8 at Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center, 11715 Cragwold Rd, Sunset Hills
    Why Go: Baby animals are cute, so bring your baby humans out to learn about them and see them play and interact. Your child gets to make a furry friend (a craft project, not a real one) to take home.
