Kennel Cough Prominent in the St. Louis Area

Once an infected dog is treated symptoms usually go away in about 10 days, according to a local veterinarian. Has your pet had this?

Local veterinarians have said kennel cough is becoming an issue in the St. Louis area.

Dr. Abby Whiting, a local veterinarian, spoke with KSDK and said usually animal hospitals see three cases of kennel cough in a week span, but lately hospitals are reporting seeing as many as 10 cases in a day.

Symptoms are a dry, hacking or honking cough and do not show up until 3-5 days after the dog is infected, according to Whiting, who also said pets that go untreated can develop pneumonia.
