Outstanding in Oakville: Lacey Dreppard

Lacey Dreppard's already stellar school career is soaring with her recent acceptance into the Air Force Academy.

Lacey Dreppard has been contributing to the community for many of her young years. Since the sixth grade, she has been active in the Girl Scouts. Beginning in the scouts at , she is now at the ambassador level of scouting. Her leader, Kathy Bochantin, has been an inspiration in her Girl Scout career.

“Stick with the scouts all the way through to gain leadership skills and help in the community. It is definitely worth it and it's fun. Your involvement inspires the younger scouts and it helps for college admittance,” Dreppard said.

Since eighth grade, Dreppard has been instrumental in helping with the Girl Scout “” personal products and toiletries campaign, which is currently in progress.

“We also had a troop 2979 project that was a teddy-bear-and-book drive for Children’s Hospital. It was very successful,” Dreppard said.

Dreppard is finishing her last year at , and is maintaining a 4.0 plus grade point average. She prefers math and science classes, but excels in all of her studies. Her academic excellence was a major factor in the awards and scholarship offers she received this year.

“I declined scholarships to Saint Louis University and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona, Florida, in order to attend the Air Force Academy,” Dreppard said.

In spite of being a very busy young woman, Dreppard always has some time for recreation. Her favorite sporting activities are flag football and ultimate Frisbee.

“I don’t know how good I am, but I certainly enjoy both these activities,” she said.

Dreppard is currently taking flying lessons and has logged 7.5 hours in a Cessna. Possessing a background in flying should come in very handy in her future with the Air Force.
