What Would You Improve in Mehlville and Oakville in 2013?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for Mehlville and Oakville, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Mehlville and Oakville to make it an even better place to live?

Maybe improving our schools is your most important issue. The Mehlville School District is bringing two big changes to our public schools: a new auditorium at Mehlville High School and tennis courts at Bernard Middle School. An Oakville High School senior wrote a letter to the community asking for changes to security procedures at his school. What do you think? Find more school news here.

1. Universal Early Childhood Education. 2. Raise classroom teacher compensation, which is currently a despicable second from the bottom out of dozens in the area. 3. Add additional MAP test requirement for school board candidacy; score proficient in math, communication arts, and science at the 8th grade level.
