Whiz Kid’s Accomplishment: Sofia got help for her fellow student who needed medical assistance.

Whiz Kid’s Key to Awesomeness: Soft spoken and shy by nature, Sofia conquered her fears and got her bus driver's attention when her classmate was having a seizure.

“I was sitting next to my friend and we were talking ... then he started to stare and began lying down,” Hatzigeorgiou said. “I ran to the front of the bus and said, 'Mr. Rich, something is wrong—my friend is sick.' I was very scared, but I was also thinking 'I hope he is feeling all right.'"

Sofia's plea allowed her classmate to get the proper medical assistance he needed. “They took him away in an ambulance, but he's OK now,” Hatzigeorgiou said.  For her actions, Sofia was recognized at the Do the Right Thing Program of Greater St. Louis ceremony on Jan. 27.

“I felt very happy to get the award. And I got to have dinner with my teacher afterward,” Hatzigeorgiou said.
