Whiz Kid: Tyler Yost
Tyler Yost, a senior at Mehlville Senior High School, is a Eagle Scout with a sound plan for the future.
Each Wednesday, Mehlville Patch will be highlighting a young person in the community who is making a positive difference in the lives of others. Key to Awesomeness: Tyler Yost, a member of Boy Scout Troop 752, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout after he completed his final project, building a 10 by 20-foot sun shelter for the children enrolled at the Tree House Pre-School at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ on Telegraph Road.
Yost is very active at St. Paul’s and often volunteers for work projects as needed. The sun shelter was just one of his many contributions. When he is not volunteering at church, he enjoys playing volleyball.
Academically he is ranked 35 out of the 445 seniors at Mehlville High School and plans on attending Truman State University next year. His favorite subjects are Advanced Placement (AP) European History and AP Calculus. Upon entering Truman as a freshman, he will have already earned college credits from his AP coursework at Mehlville. Yost is currently applying for scholarships and has been awarded a $4,000 scholarship to Truman. He will be pursuing a major in international business or business administration.
