Bernard Middle School Veterans Concert

Bernard Middle School’s students will be engaging the community in a musical tribute to veterans and United States military personnel on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011. The combined band, choir and strings concert will take place in the Bernard gymnasium at 6:30 p.m. The community is invited and encouraged to participate in this free tribute to those who have served and are currently serving our nation in the military.

The program will feature patriotic music and inspiring messages offered by the students and veteran guest speakers. Representative Paul Curtman, a former United States Marine, will be the featured guest speaker for the evening. More than 150 Bernard students will take part in the event by serving as greeters and ushers as well as providing the wide variety of musical offerings.

Every student at Bernard has been encouraged to take part in honoring past and present service members by writing tributes that will be displayed in the school’s hallways leading to the gymnasium.  The program also will include a slideshow featuring photographs of students’ family members who are veterans from World War II, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and peacetime service.
