Open House: Exhibit of Students' Illustrations for Book of Family Stories
Thirty-four 4th- through 8th-grade artists from the St. Louis area, including thirteen from Hancock Place Middle School, have their illustrations of historical family stories exhibited at Gya Community Gallery, 2700 Locust Street (63103), from May 1 through June 17. A special open house featuring the exhibit will be held Saturday, June 2, from 11:00 to 5:30. Check www.YeyoArts.Blogspot.com for additional gallery hours. The illustrations in this exhibit were submitted to accompany stories in Grannie Annie, Vol. 7, a book of historical family stories written by young people. The illustrated stories span about ninety years (from 1890 to the late 1970s), and take place in North America, Europe, and Asia. Both published and unpublished drawings are included in the exhibit.
