Peter Mayer Stars & Promises 2010 The Story of Christmas - 10th Anniversary Celebration

The Story of Christmas
10th Anniversary Celebration

2010 marks the 10th anniversary of Peter Mayer's annual celebration of Christmas, "Stars and Promises". We will recall the years and look to the future with songs and stories that come alive in the gift of Christmas.

In 1999, Peter and his brother, Jim Mayer, began work on their first Christmas album, Stars and Promises. They took original carols such as "What Child Is This", "Joy to World", and "Little Drummer Boy", penned their own Christmas original compositions such as "Sing Joy" and "This Christmas" and placed them in musical settings that traced their upbringing and musical influences from a childhood in India to their journeys since then into jazz, rock, folk, and classical directions.

From that first December, a trial run in a van that took them to a few locations, to the present tour that features a striking, visual and sound production with 17 shows, Stars and Promises has become a yuletide tradition that thousands of fans welcome back each year to their own communities.

The tenth anniversary show will feature musical highlights from years past and new compositions and arrangements by Peter Mayer, singer/songwriter, and to date continues as lead guitarist for Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer. Peter will be accompanied by his band, a superb cast of musicians including R. Scott Bryan (Sheryl Crowe, Mama's Pride, Jeff Coffin) on percussion, guitar, and vocals; Marc Torlina (Chuck Berry, Neil Sedaka, Treme Terra) on bass and vocals; Maggie Estes (Buddy Spicher, Leahy, Mike Snider) on Violin and Mandolin; Chris Walters (Bela Fleck, Alabama, JD Souther) on Keyboards, and nationally recognized native flute player Mark Holland.
