“Stories of Hope” is a compilation of real life stories of women who are or who have been in the criminal justice system.  They have participated in Let’s Start, Inc., an organization founded in 1989 to break the cycle of incarceration in families by providing support for recovery and reintegration.  These women are not actors but they bravely share their stories of hope, heartache, and triumph.  The play has three scenes: the Growing Up Years; Life in Prison (including a perspective through the eyes of a child); Life after Prison.   “Stories of Hope” raises awareness about the effects of incarceration on women, on their children, and on our communities.  This performance is an important part of the advocacy and outreach work of Let’s Start.
(Age appropriate: 9th grade and up)

The approximate length of the performance is one hour with time for Q/A if desired.    Hopefully it will spark a dialogue about the effects of incarceration on women and families in the St. Louis community.  Although admission is free, a donation basket will be passed around.  Please consider a financial contribution to help support the mission of Let’s Start’s.
