Diner Motto: Eat-Rite or Don't Eat At All

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are always cooking at the Eat-Rite Diner where you can eat 24 hours a day.

Eat Rite or Don’t Eat At All has been the mantra of the Eat-Rite Diner in Concord Village for more than 30 years. Here, short orders of burgers, slingers and plate lunch specials are the menu’s mainstay.

Like the menu itself, Eat-Rite isn’t fancy. It's housed in an unassuming storefront tucked in the middle of an old building facing South Lindbergh at the Concord Village Avenue wedge. Inside decoration is bare bones, with chrome tables and chairs and an iconic counter fitted with bar stools that face the grill. The only added element not original to its 1970s set-up is the ATM placed near the register, a necessity just in case you didn’t catch the “Cash Only” sign on the front door.

Not much cash is needed with burgers at $1.95. If you want that burger to be a double with cheese, it will cost an extra buck. BLTs ring in at $3.10 and Chili Dogs with all the trimmings are $4.80. Dinners are built around two side choices— a veggie, potato or salad, and priced as affordable as the burgers, starting at $6.90 for the fried chicken and topping out at $12 for the 10-ounce T-Bone Steak.

“You got to try the half-fried chicken sometime. It’s some of the best,” our waitress said. “You also got to check our the specials on the board. It’s different everyday but if want to know what those are before you come in— just call us.”

Breakfast is served all day, every day. Yep, that’s no mistake, the Eat- Rite is open seven days a week around the clock. For night owls and insomniacs looking for a late-night meal, take note. The most popular after midnight item is the Slinger (burgers, hash browns, fried eggs, chili, cheese, onions with a side of toast), an off-the-menu delicacy that Eat-Rite provides anytime on request.
