Joujin’ Spirits With Style Looking for New Owner

Three years after opening , Sue Bosler and her husband John Hertel are looking for new ownership at the cocktail lounge. 

“But we want to make everyone aware we’re not closed,” she said. “We still have bands booked through September and are going about business as usual.”

Saint Louis Group Business Brokers is hosting an auction Friday and Saturday for potential buyers from 1 to 5 p.m. The starting price is $125,000.

“It is an auction, but not in the sense you may think,” she said. “We’re selling the entire business as a package, not different parts or equipment.”

Joujin’ Spirits with Style has been on the market since November, but now Bosler is actively pushing to sell. Although she said she enjoyed the experience, her and her husband are ready to move on to the next chapter of their lives.

The couple opened Joujin’ hoping to target adults who are in search of upscale, low-pressure entertainment. 

According to Bosler, Joujin’ is a term that describes, “a state of being involving pleasure-seeking.” It can also be a verb meaning, “relaxing, unwinding or celebrating.”

The idea to open a bar was based solely on the couple’s desire for entertainment that didn’t leave them feeling flat.

“Whenever we would go out, we really couldn’t find a place," Bosler said. "We’d go someplace and come home and say, ‘We didn’t really have a good time.’ The kids’ bars are not exactly our style.”

There is a regular schedule of karaoke and live music, but in a fashion that is more suited to the speed of the clientele.

“Bands are from 8 until midnight, rather than 9 until 1 a.m.,” she said.

On Aug. 11, the lounge is hosting Billy Peek, an American Blues guitarist based in St. Louis.
