Mehlville Optimists Make Fundraising Delicious
The annual Mehlville Optimist Club BBQ volunteers planned to serve more than 1,200 people.
For roughly 35 years, the Mehlville Optimist Club has set up shop on the corner of Lemay Ferry and Mehl in Oakville for their annual barbecue fundraiser. In the course of the weekend, the club planned to serve more than 1,200 people.
This is just one of the many fundraisers throughout the year that the Mehlville Optimist Club runs to benefit the community.
"Our fundraisers usually put us around $15,000 over the amount we need to run our operations," said MOC president, Milt Lane. "That money is all given back to student organizations, and to United Way, and to families in our community that the Salvation Army helps us to connect with."
