No Matter How You Spell It, P’sghetti’s Spells Good Eats

Quality, value and an appealing menu has made P'sghetti's a favorite for hungry South Countians.

Spaghetti, sandwiches and salad are the foundation to the simple menu that’s made  a South County landmark eatery.

“It works (the menu) and people like us because we’re family-friendly and you get a lot for you money,” said P’sghetti’s owner Colleen Brannan, who with husband Bill, opened the operation in 1987.

Topping P’sghetti’s cost-plus menu is a collection of hot and cold sandwiches, all built to order on its signature homemade sweet bread. Loyal customers recommend the Super Sub, a house specialty that layers beef, ham, salami, American and Provel cheese dressed with lettuce, affordably priced at $5.65 (8-inch) and $10.65 (16-inch).

Other cold sammies include variations of turkey, veggie and tuna salad. Top picks among hot sandwiches are the Open-faced Meatball ($6.85), Salsiccia ($6.25) and the Chicken Parmesan ($6.95), also available as a dinner entrée.

Spaghetti, P’sghetti’s namesake, shares the pasta short list with mostaccioli and ravioli. Each is made with the Brannan family’s signature red sauce and can be ordered as a dinner, a single side or a 32-ounce ala carte item.

To compliment your pasta or sandwich, consider a side of garlic cheese bread, chips or small tossed salad.  For those wanting to eat green, there are two entrée salads, the Chicken Club ($7.40) or the Chef Salad ($6.95), topped with hard-cooked eggs, salami, ham and cheese.

Service is quick and the staff is friendly. The walk-up counter serves both carryout orders and those who choose to dine- in P'sghetti's modest, comfortable dining room.

Portions are generous and affordably priced. The menu's best value, the carry-out Family Special; half gallon of spaghetti or mostaccioli, 16-inch loaf of garlic bread, 16-inch Sub Sandwich and half-gallon tossed salad with house dressing for $24.75.
