Oakville Dental Hosting Halloween Candy Drop-Off

The candy will go to soldiers serving in Afghanistan.

It’s few days after Halloween and there is still a mountain of candy to eat.

If you’re already sick of Milk Duds and Pop Rocks, consider dropping off extra candy at Oakville Dental Care Nov. 5 from 12 until 3 p.m.

The dentist office is hosting Operation Candy Drop, a family festival to donate leftover Halloween candy.

The business will pay kids a dollar a pound to trade in their candy and then will ship the treats to troops in Afghanistan.

The candy-purging festival will have popcorn, face painting and a bounce house. Older kids will be able to write letters to the troops who will benefit from the sweet giveaway.

This is the first year the dentist’s office has opened up the event to the public. In the past, customers came by to donate their candy.

“The kids really respond to Operation Candy Drop,” said Jan Schroeder with Oakville Dental Care. “They’re very willing to come in and turn in their candy. We’re a dental office, so obviously we promote that."
