Quesa-D-Ya's Restaurant Ends 60-Day Run in South County

The Quesa-D-Ya's founder hopes to be back in St. Louis in a couple of locations.

Quesa-D-Ya's restaurant, which billed itself as an original concept that is a carry-out and delivery alternative to pizza, ended a 60-day run recently at 4337 Butler Hill Road.

Patch was unable to reach franchise owner Tom Davis. But Paul Ortmann, corporate spokesman and Quesa-D-Ya's founder, said he expects the restaurant to be back in St. Louis at a couple of locations.

Ortmann said the local restaurant closed due to some personal issues for Davis, but said the food was well-received and the business was starting to break even.

"It was a tough deal for Davis," he said.

Quesa-D-Ya's was "born from the frustration that is pizza delivery," according to the company's website. "We were convinced that delivery could be done fresher, faster, more innovative and exciting. All in all, we thought it could be done better."

The Quesa-D-Ya's menu featured pizza-sized quesadillas, including a traditional one with chicken, steak, or pulled pork with fajita onions and peppers, fresh pico de gallo, rice, black beans, and D-Ya's three cheese blend. A Ragin Cajun "D-Ya" included blackened chicken breast, mild andouille sausage, sautéed onions & peppers, an the three cheese blend.

Ortmann said the restaurant has become popular in several Dallas-area locations in Texas. He believes the concept will catch on elsewhere. And it was catching on in South County, he said, prior to the untimely closure of the local franchise.
