River City Casino Building New Hotel, Event Center

Here's the latest on the new $82 million expansion at River City Casino.

River City Casino's new parking garage is up and running, but the casino has more big changes coming this year.

The $82 million expansion focuses on building a new parking garage (which was completed in November), event center (scheduled to be completed in May 2013) and hotel (scheduled to be completed in September 2013.)

“The addition of a beautiful 200-room hotel, a multi-purpose event center that can entertain up to 1,400 guests and a 1600-space covered parking structure will provide our guests with an experience unmatched in St. Louis,” said Neil Walkoff, Senior Vice President over River City Casino and its sister property Lumière Place.  “Couple that with our world class dining, superior gaming, and team members who are focused on providing the best customer service and you can see why River City is truly ‘The Best City in St. Louis.’

The new hotel will hold 200 rooms, including 16 patio rooms on the first floor and six two-bay suites. Each room is filled with fun amenities, like televisions that come through the bathroom mirror, said Walkoff.

"The rooms will be spectacular," Walkoff said.

Walkoff said he's confident the new 14,000 event center will draw big performing acts from around the country.

River City Casino said the expansion will create approximately 100 permanent jobs and 350 construction-related jobs.
