Southern Commercial Bank Celebrates 10 Years in Mehlville

To commemorate its milestone, Southern Commercial Bank invited the community for a light lunch, chocolate bars and prizes.

celebrated 10 years at its 6969 South Lindbergh Boulevard location Friday with a party for the community. It was a “thank you” to all of their customers and friends in the area.

The location at South Lindbergh Boulevard and Union Road has proved to be a good one for the century-old St. Louis bank.

“We are very pleased with this location in Mehlville," said Senior Vice President of the bank, Tom Krahman. "When we got the opportunity to obtain this site, we thought it was perfect for our expansion into South County. Many of our customers here began banking at Southern Commercial in our South City locations. It’s a community of great people to serve.”

Loan officer Tony Pelizzaro was humbled when guests thanked him for the party. He insisted that Kathy Sitzes, the customer service officer at the branch, deserved most of the praise for planning the celebration.

“We have a lot of long term customers at this branch. Many moved here from St. Louis city. We are a small town bank that serves a big metropolitan area,” Pelizzaro said.

“It rained, it poured, but we still had a great crowd,” Sitzes said. “This is our 10th anniversary at this branch, but Southern Commercial Bank is 120 years old this year.”

Everyone in attendance enjoyed sandwiches and snacks from Kenrick’s Meat Market and Catering. There were plenty of beverages, cookies and chocolate bars for dessert.

Cathy Simon, a longtime employee at Southern Commercial said, “The event was well attended. We had plenty of goodies. I’ve seen lots of new faces.”
