St. Anthony's Employees Raise Almost $45,000 for Joplin Victims

Employees and administrators at St. Anthony’s Medical Center have donated more than $44,455 to health care colleagues affected by the May 22 tornado in Joplin, MO.

Sharon Schmitt, a physical therapist at the hospital, raised more than $400 alone by setting up a lemonade stand at her house.

“It’s not a ton of money,” she said in a release. “But I hope the workers know we’re thinking of them; we hope this helps in some small way.”

Hospital administrators kicked in $5,000 to the effort. The money went to the Missouri Hospital Association’s Hospital Employee Relief Organization (HERO) fund, which benefits health care workers who lost family and possessions in the tornado.
