Boy Scouts to Host Recruiting Night at Schools

The recruiting night will be held Sept. 1.

The Boy Scouts of St. Louis will be hosting a recruiting night at all elementary schools in the Mehlville School District on Sept. 1. Starting at 7 p.m., boys in grades 1-5 will be able to visit any one of their elementary schools and learn about joining Scouts.

Each fall, the St. Louis Council puts on a "School Night to Join Scouting" recruitment drive. In past years, more than 8,000 new Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers have signed on.

"Over the years, this has been possible because of the cooperation of our school district superintendents, principals and teachers," said Gravois Trail District Director Robert Sinda in an email to Patch. "Letting us use the buildings, passing out flyers, hanging posters and allowing someone from the Scouts to do classroom visits and/or school rallies has been key and is greatly appreciated."
