Good Morning Mehlville and Oakville: Join Patch's Celebration Friday Night

Good morning, Mehlville!

Welcome to our new column that will help you get through the weekday. Every Monday through Friday at 6 a.m., we'll tell you everything ranging from gas prices and traffic alerts to events around town and stories we're working on. Lastly, we'll sign off with something fun to kickstart your morning.

• Weather: Today's going to be hotter than yesterday, with a high near 100. The heat index could reach 108 and we're in another excessive heat warning until Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. If you're outside today, be careful!

• Gas: Sam's Club is still the lowest, and less than yesterday at $3.41. Other gas stations have come down to $3.51 including the Lindbergh and Union Phillips 66 and the Lemay Ferry Quick Trip, according to stlouisgasprices.com.
  
  
• There's a lot going on today: St. Anthony's Medical Center is offering free bike helmet fittings and helmets for $10. If bike safety is on your back-to-school list, head over to the hospital from 4-6 p.m. is also tonight. Police will be visiting area block parties and giving demonstrations on safety, and showing the helicopter and K-9 unit. 
   
• Patch is having a party! We're so excited about the new Mehlville-Oakville Patch (coming soon!), we want to invite everyone out for a night of fun. This Friday, Aug. 5, we're hosting a food and drink celebration at in Oakville starting at 5 p.m. All are welcome to stop by for a drink, food and to chat about Patch and the community.
