Welcome to our new column that will help you get through the weekday. Every Monday through Friday at 6 a.m., we'll tell you everything ranging from gas prices and traffic alerts to events around town and stories we're working on.   • Weather: Temperatures are climbing with a high around 87 degrees today. The sun is also supposed to continue throughout the week, according to the National Weather Service
  • Gas: Prices dropped with Mobil on Lemay Ferry and Buckley coming in at $3.22. Sam's Club and the Union and Greenpark Phillips 66 are only one cent higher, according to stlouisgasprices.com.
  • The Mehlville School Board passed the 2011-2012 budget as well as the certified employee agreement and other items at last night's meeting. Check back later this week and next for stories. Tonight, the board will be interviewing the who applied for the open position on the board at 6:30 p.m. in the  library. Patch will be there and will have live updates from its Facebook page.
  • Later today, look for a story from Mehlville's American Idol hopeful. Did she make it? Did anyone?
