Good morning, Mehlville!

Welcome to our new column that will help you get through the weekday. Every Monday through Friday at 6 a.m., we'll tell you everything ranging from gas prices and traffic alerts to events around town and stories we're working on.   • Weather: The heat continues and increases as today's high will reach 100 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The heat index will climb to 112 and there is an excessive heat warning for the area until Friday evening. 
  • Gas: Just about everyone is at $3.47, including Phillips 66, Sam's Club and Quick Trip. Both Phillips 66 and Quick Trip locations on Tesson Ferry Road are at $3.58, according to stlouisgasprices.com.

  • Is your car air conditioning working? In this summer heat,  at 3623 Lemay Ferry Road is checking your car's air conditioning for free until July 31. 

  • Book lovers will have to shop somewhere else in the future as the South County Borders is closing.  
  • Later today, we'll have our weekly crime report for the area and the scoop on a back-to-school contest hosted by Walmart. 

  • Song of the Day: We're kicking it old school today with the Stones: "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction."
