Love to Blog? Join Up With Patch

We're looking for local community bloggers who love to write and want to be heard.

Beginning May 4, Mehlville Patch will be making room for local bloggers on the site. We're looking for people who can talk on a variety of topics and who can share their personality and create discussion. After all, Patch is more than a news site, it's an online conversation about your community.

No matter your area of expertise, if you're in Mehlville and love to write, we'd like you to consider blogging for Patch. Topics can include food, family, schools, government, business, shopping, health or even strange things you hear while walking through the mall. Feel free to be serious or funny, as long as its compelling.

Anyone can do it—students, parents, librarians, sports enthusiasts, public officials and gardeners are welcome to apply. Get in touch with us about your idea. We want to hear what you have to say. Nothing is changing on the news end, and our trusty reporters will still be bustling around the community. We're just adding something new.

Patch blogging is free and writers own their own blogs. This isn't a reporting job, but a way for community members to share their opinions and ideas with the community. Post multiple times a day, or once a month—the choice is yours.

If you're already blogging and want to share with our readers too, let us know.

This is a chance to share your expertise and opinions with thousands! Since we're part of the Huffington Post Media Group, we may occasionally be able to put your submission in front of an even bigger audience.

My only involvement as editor would be to review blog entries submitted to ensure there are no libelous claims. Well-thought-out opinions backed up with facts are awesome. But personal insults, unfounded claims and defamation aren't what we're looking for. When opinions get strong and contentious, it's not always clear where the fine lines are drawn, but we're more than happy to help guide you through those murky waters. I might correct some obvious typos, too.
