it was just a matter of time until this happen, now americans know just how it feels in other countrys when bombs kill people. now you know what our service men and women live with day by day. when it hits home you will change your mind about guns and the right to protect yourself and your family. when will the next bomb blow up and kill someone you love? will it be in a movie or at a baseball, or football game. will you stop going out of you homes cause the fear will stop you? Vets of all wars know about this thing happening, you all that never join the army will run and hide in you holes..

Karl, You shouldn't post while you are drinking liquor......Anybody that turns what happened in Boston yesterday into some kind of political statement before all that facts are in is irresponsible and gutless. I'm sure you would have a different take on this if your child had been killed. I'm so happy that people like you are no longer associated with the Mehlville School System. Our kids deserve better than you and your ilk.

If this turned out to be the case that this was an irrational libertarian tea partier, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, etc. would all deserve some level of criticism. Actor and influence are causation. It comes back to the free will argument. Our decisions are the result of environment plus genetics. For instance, people irrationally own guns even though that just by owning one you are 20 times more likely to die by one if you own one. I grew up in an environment that is gun and ammo light. Never even been hunting. (Although I did get my hunters license in 3rd grade gym class in Arnold.) If I had grown up with an irrational libertarian father who was also an NRA member, I would also statistically be more likely to be anti-government, xenophobic, anti-tax, and susceptible to Faux News propaganda. If I also happened to be in the 1-2% of the population born as a psychopath (7 to 14 million people) then I would be environmentally and genetically predisposed to commit such an otherwise unthinkable act. Killing an 8 year old would simply be unfortunate collateral damage. There is accountability...and society, as well as society's influencers and lobbyists...like the NRA, share some of the responsibility. (this is for our psycho-fanatic gun culture in general, and is independent of the actors in this case.)

Times like this are the perfect time to talk about the consequences of public policy. Everything is politics and everything has a cost... Either direct or externalized. And that is regardless of the purpose, person, or cause.

And here is the boy killed yesterday: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151552548680155&set=a.496176595154.294030.8798180154

Karl, so much derp in your post above it's hard to take you serious. Your blatherings are kinda creepy in fact. Did the last school board election push you over the edge? When can we expect your final manifesto? It seems you have a good start....
Karl Frank Jr. April 16, 2013 at 04:55 PM
JMiller, you're obviously behind the times. Very far behind as a matter of fact. At what age did you stop learning new things?
Marten Swentsen April 16, 2013 at 08:01 PM
Karl with a K, here to serve up another heapin' helpin' of his Marxian liberal gibberish. Thank God you are no longer on our school board. I can't wait to you finally make the move out of Saint Louis County altogether, better still, out of the U.S.. Shut your smirking pie-hole Karl.
Karl Frank Jr. April 16, 2013 at 08:10 PM
Lol. Smirking pie-hole. I can't help your ideology sucks. People can make up their own beliefs, but they can't make up their own facts, no matter how inconvenient they may be. The good news is, as Patton Oswalt said yesterday, the good people will always outnumber the bad. As long as that is the case, my faith in humanity and South County shall stand.
Karl Frank Jr. April 16, 2013 at 08:41 PM
Marten, is that even your real name?
PaulRevere April 17, 2013 at 04:51 PM
I agree with Karl's-- Freedom to speech. I also disagree with everything he "speaks". Karl's Statistics and percentages used as facts always reminds me of the person who "drowned" in the lake that averaged only 2 feet in depth. You see Karl--It is one thing to quote a statistic of "average 2 feet", but another to miss the "fact" that the first step is 200 feet deep. "Facts" make statistics. Your world of statistics is a world that is always "ONE FACT BEHIND". As a matter of "Fact", your world of "No GOD" actually "Offends" me. I wonder what rights we "God" believers have to demand we no longer be "OFFENDED" by the 3 of you in our schools. "offended" works both ways. Let's fight to put back "morals" and some prayer in our schools. Every Christian has the claim that they are being "offended" by ridicule of their children to even utter the word "GOD" or "Jesus". Karl is a "poster child" of why Public schools have failed in morals and responsibility. Success of Public schools is proven in 1940's 50's 60's. There is no doubt the secular society destroying the foundation of Faith will eventually destroy ALL public schools "ability to teach Reading , writing and Arithmetic". Having no Faith is OK with me, but I don't have to be offended by Atheists demanding my money to support their Agenda. Wake up people. Wake up Teachers. Our public schools demand cultural teachings as in years past. Classes should be "recorded". Teachers not teaching according to texts--OUT!
Karl Frank Jr. April 17, 2013 at 05:04 PM
You want freedom but you want children and teachers under 24 hour surveillance? Sounds more like China to me. And why do you put quotes around everything you anonymous coward clown?
PaulRevere April 19, 2013 at 06:58 PM
Parents have the right to know what our children are being taught. Do you know that some teachers are asking students to "Stomp on the name JESUS".? Do you know Professors are giving speeches in their classrooms about the evils of "republicans".? Only secret recording are exposing them. Paying for our own "Religion being stolen". Do you know young children and high schoolers are admonished for uttering a "prayer"? (Free speech) Surveillance is absolutely necessary at ALL public buildings. Surveillance helps fight Crime. Finally--Every word in the english language can be technically " " "Quoted". I love quotes, because it should remind YOU that other people say the same things I say. So let me repeat. "I am offended by Atheists" attempting to limit the free speech of other children whose parents pay over 99% of the schools' operations. Even Obamacare gives me that right to opt-out of public medical exchanges to buy my own Health care. Only Public schools have set-up their own "REGIME" taxing for their Pays, rather than setting a pay structure totally independent of the values of property. Like health care- I should be able to opt-out. There is nothing PUBLIC about Education. It should be offered, but it need not be a necessity for our welfare. (as medical care is). So ,Karl, want to let the community vote on this matter? Does the outcome scare you.? Board! Are you listening. Time for Mehlville to become the leader in Missouri, not the followers.
PaulRevere April 19, 2013 at 07:39 PM
Memo to the new Board! Missouri constitution states "the state will provide "Free" public schools" until the age of 21. It does not say "Transportation" nor "lunches" nor "Auditoriums" nor "swimming pools" nor Tennis courts nor $225,000 superintendents nor "Teachers' personal retirement plans" nor pay for " $millions of wall-street commissions" paid to run those "PERSONAL" pension plans. YET, that is what past Boards have stamped as needs for Education. All of the above are paid by "Local Taxes" (Not state) approved by the people. THEY CAN ALL BE DIS_APPROVED by the People. Yes ,"Free public schools" to ALL. But, Local taxation for the extras should be assessed on those who Use & want those services. (scream all they want). Reading-writing-Arithmetic is "education" paid by the state. Everything else is "Local" assessed. And can be Locally De-assessed. That is what the Missouri Constitution requires. Nothing more. It is time for all those who would approve $110mill school budgets that spend over $70mill for Pays and benefits and administrative to justify the costs as "education". (the private teacher market does not pay $60k-100k pensions). It is time to limit the "FREE" element & services of Public Schools. Their financial freedom to choose their Education venue is threatened by ill-approved school costs. I already pay my obligation for my child'sTransportation and lunch. That cost should not be public taxed as "education". It is "Stealing".
PaulRevere April 19, 2013 at 07:43 PM
I wonder why our State colleges charge any tuitions -if the Free public schools applies to age 21? Does Missouri University or UMSL come under "Free public schools to age 21?") What about Truman, S.E MO State etc? Of course, I could be wrong on this. Just asking as I watch our public schools morph into "Glorified Country Clubs".
