Senior Center Nominated for Monsanto Grant

The South County Senior Resource Center needs your vote on Facebook to win $20,000.

South County's Senior Resource Center is up for a $20,000 grant, but they need your vote.

The Mid-East Area Agency on Aging's center in Lemay is a finalist for Grow St. Louis, Monsanto's campaign to award grants to non-profits based on community votes.

The senior center is actively looking for funding since they got word the sequester, a series of federal budget cuts, will mean .

“Costs keep increasing but our funds don’t,” Pamela Guest, administrator at the senior center, said. “We’ve been robbing Peter to pay Paul, but there’s no more Peter and there’s no more Paul.”

Lemay Child and Family Center won a $15,000 grant in the summer of 2012 through the Grow St. Louis program.
